Chichester

This is a small public garden in a very busy part of the town where several important roads (Dean Road, Chichester Road, Laygate Lane and Stanhope Road) met. A bronze statue of Queen Victoria was the centre piece with lawns, flower beds and park benches forming a triangular area. The whole area was redeveloped in 1983 to make way for a new Metro station. Queen Victoria (the statue not the real one) was moved to a new home in front of the rather impressive Town Hall building near the centre of town.
In fact, the statue was moved back to almost the exact spot where it was originally unveiled in 1913. This is a photo of the original unveiling ceremony from May of that year. I don't know when or why it was moved to Chichester.
